- JEETrack stores the study data you enter (test scores, study hours, syllabus progress, tasks) so the app works. We don't sell your data.
- We use Supabase to store your account and data and to power our internal analytics, and Groq to generate your AI Insights, and Resend to send report emails.
- You can export or permanently delete all your data anytime from Settings → Data & Backup.
- Many JEETrack users are under 18. If you're under 18, please use JEETrack with a parent or guardian's knowledge — see Children & Minors.
1Overview
JEETrack ("JEETrack", "we", "us", "our") is a study-tracking web app built for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) aspirants in India, accessible at www.jeetrack.in. JEETrack is built and operated by an individual developer, not a registered company.
This Privacy Policy explains what information JEETrack collects when you use the app, how that information is used, who it's shared with, and what choices you have. It applies to the JEETrack website, the JEETrack Progressive Web App (PWA) when installed on your device, and any related services described below.
By creating an account or using JEETrack, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2What we collect
We try to collect only what's needed to make JEETrack work and to improve it. Here's exactly what that includes:
Account information
When you sign up, you create an account through Supabase Authentication, using either:
- Email and password — we (via Supabase) store your email address and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your password in plain text.
- Google Sign-In (OAuth) — Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture (if available) with us, so we can create your account without you typing a password.
Profile & onboarding information
During onboarding, you may provide:
- Display name and profile photo (uploaded photo or a preset avatar)
- Academic year (Class 11, Class 12, or Dropper) and target JEE year
- Study mode (online, offline, hybrid, self-study) and coaching institute name, if any
Study data you create
This is the core of the app — the data you log to track your preparation:
- Mock test scores for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced (subject-wise breakdowns, totals, dates, notes)
- Study hours logged by subject and type (lecture, practice, revision), including timer sessions
- Syllabus completion status for Physics, Chemistry, and Maths chapters
- To-do and backlog tasks, including titles, priorities, due dates, and notes
- Score goals you set for yourself
- Feedback or messages you send us through the in-app feedback form
Technical & usage information
We automatically derive some usage information from the study data you create and from your account activity — for example, which features you use (mock tests, study hours, syllabus tracker, AI Insights, backlog), how often you open the app, and your signup date. This is calculated directly from your existing Supabase records, not from a separate tracking script, and is used only for our own internal analytics dashboard to understand product usage at an aggregate level.
Information we do not intentionally collect
We don't ask for or knowingly collect your government ID numbers, financial/payment details (JEETrack is free — we don't process payments), or precise GPS location.
3How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and maintain your account, and let you sign in securely
- Save and sync your study data across your devices
- Generate your dashboards, charts, streaks, and the study-hours heatmap
- Generate your AI Insights reports (see below)
- Send you transactional emails (like monthly report emails) and, if you opt in, push notifications for test reminders and study nudges
- Personalize onboarding and dashboard calibration based on your class/target year
- Understand how people use JEETrack, fix bugs, and decide what to build next
- Respond to feedback or support requests you send us
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or other third parties, and JEETrack does not run third-party advertising.
4AI Insights & Groq
JEETrack's "AI Insights" feature analyzes your test scores, study hours, syllabus progress, and backlog data to generate a personalized weekly breakdown. To do this, when you tap Generate Insights, JEETrack sends a summary of that data — built from what you've logged in the app — to Groq, a third-party AI inference provider, which runs a large language model (Llama 3.3 70B) to produce the analysis text.
This means a snapshot of your performance data (scores, hours, syllabus gaps) is sent to Groq's servers at the moment you request an insight. We've designed the request to include only what's needed to generate the report — not your name, email, or account credentials — but the academic data itself (e.g. "scored 62% in Physics on partial syllabus") is included so the AI can analyze it.
This request happens through our own backend (a Supabase Edge Function), which requires you to be signed in — it isn't called automatically or in the background. Groq processes this data to return a response and does not use it to train their models for the purposes of this integration, per their API terms; we encourage you to review Groq's own privacy policy for how they handle API data.
5Analytics
We run our own internal analytics dashboard to understand how people use JEETrack so we can fix what's broken and improve what isn't. Unlike many apps, we don't use a third-party analytics or tracking service — our analytics are built entirely from the same Supabase database that stores your study data. There's no separate tracking script running in your browser, no session recording, and no third-party company receiving your usage events.
What this means in practice
When you log a mock test, study session, backlog item, or generate an AI Insight, that record already exists in your account's Supabase tables. Our admin dashboard queries those same tables in aggregate — for example, counting how many users logged a test this week, or what percentage of users have tried AI Insights — without adding any new tracking of your individual behavior beyond what's needed for the app to function.
Identification
Because this analytics data comes from your account records rather than a separate tracking pixel, it's inherently tied to your user ID, email, and profile fields (class, target year, coaching institute) the same way your regular app data is — there's no additional identifier or fingerprinting involved.
This approach means one less third-party company has access to your usage patterns, and there's no separate analytics privacy policy to review — your data stays within the same Supabase infrastructure described throughout this policy.
7Storage & security
Your account and study data are stored in a Supabase PostgreSQL database with Row Level Security enabled, meaning the database itself enforces that you can only ever read or write your own data — not other users' data. Communication between your browser and our backend uses HTTPS encryption.
JEETrack also keeps a local copy of your data in your browser's local storage so the app stays fast and usable on flaky connections, syncing it back to Supabase when you're online.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we use industry-standard practices (encrypted connections, access-controlled databases, hashed passwords) to protect your information.
8Retention & deletion
We keep your account and study data for as long as your account is active, so your tracker keeps working and your history stays intact for streaks, trends, and comparisons.
You're in control of this data:
- Export: Go to Settings → Data & Backup → Export JSON Backup to download all your data, or Export PDF Report for a formatted summary.
- Delete everything: Go to Settings → Data & Backup → Reset All Data to permanently and irreversibly erase your scores, study hours, tasks, backlog, and syllabus progress.
- Delete your account entirely: Email us at support@jeetrack.in and we'll delete your account and associated data from our systems.
Some information may persist for a short period in backups or logs even after deletion, but it will no longer be linked to active use of the product and will age out per our providers' standard retention schedules.
9Your rights & choices
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Access your data anytime through the app, or request a copy from us directly
- Correct inaccurate profile information from Settings
- Export your data as a JSON backup or PDF report
- Delete your data or your account, as described above
- Opt out of push notifications and monthly email reports anytime from Settings
- Withdraw consent for Google Sign-In data sharing by disconnecting JEETrack from your Google account settings, or by deleting your JEETrack account
If you're an Indian resident, these rights are consistent with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). If you're located outside India and a different privacy law applies to you (such as the GDPR), we'll honor equivalent rights on request — contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate it.
10Children & minors
We know many JEETrack users are between 16 and 18 years old, since that's the typical age range for JEE aspirants. This section is here deliberately, not as boilerplate.
If you are under 18, you should use JEETrack with the involvement, awareness, or consent of a parent or legal guardian, consistent with applicable law in your jurisdiction. JEETrack does not knowingly collect more information from a minor than is needed to provide the study-tracking features described in this policy, and we don't use minors' data for advertising.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to JEETrack and you'd like it reviewed, exported, or deleted, contact us at support@jeetrack.in and we will act on that request.
12Push notifications & emails
If you opt in, JEETrack can send browser push notifications for test reminders, daily study nudges, and backlog reminders. You can disable these anytime from Settings or your browser's notification permissions — this is entirely optional and off by default.
If you opt in to monthly reports, we'll send a curated progress email (via Resend) on the 1st of each month, including a PDF performance summary built from your data. You can unsubscribe anytime from Settings.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as JEETrack evolves — for example, if we add a new feature or change a service provider. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continuing to use JEETrack after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
